Assignments and Grading

20% = Class presentation.

To prepare one class presentation on one of the major themes covered in the plays. This should be 10-15 minutes. Your presentation should endeavor to include a good selection of the primary reading but the approach you choose is your own. You may want to base your presentation on the suggested essay questions. You should provide your classmates with a handout.

35% = Two-part screenplay assignment.

This is a two-part assignment: the first part should be in essay form and the second part should be submitted as a screenplay for an adaptation of a scene from the history plays we will read this semester, Henry IV, I & II; Henry V and Richard III. You may include an actor wish list with part two and/or write the scene in verse. The essay should be 3-4 pages. You should refer to the seminar questions on the plays and the topics discussed in class. To be completed and submitted at the end of week eleven.

35% = 2,000 word essay.

            To be completed from an essay title provided and submitted at the end of the semester.

10% = Participation.

Attendance in class in not enough. Informed participation in class discussion is essential.
